A hands-on course on enjoying flowers and greenery
This is a hands-on course to find new ways to enjoy flowers and greenery. It is part of Nakahara Ward's project to fill the ward with flowers through residents' own hands. It is for people who love flowers and plants, and also for people who want to start something new or are looking for a way to get involved in their community.
- In Part 1, a talk introduces people and activities that enjoy flowers and greenery, with hints on finding your own way to take part.
- In Part 2, local groups working on flower beds, cleanups and composting talk about what they do, how they started and what makes it fun.
- Part 3 asks, "What kind of flower bed would make our town more fun?" Imagining the flowers and plants you want and the people who would gather there, you draw flower bed ideas in groups together with the local groups. A facilitator guides the session, so you can join on your own.
Led by the NPO midori-ba
The course is organized by the Nakahara Ward Office. The talk and workshop are led by the NPO Kyoso Community midori-ba (representative: Shuhei Saito). It is a Kawasaki-born greenery community that started from the "greenery social experiment," held in fiscal 2024 to mark the city's 100th anniversary.
