A 30 m runway on Ginryugai on Oct 31
On Halloween, Saturday, Oct 31, 2026, a runway about 30 m long will be set up on the arcade street of Kawasaki Ginryugai. It is a fashion show where ordinary people in costume, not professional models, walk the runway. It is called "Gin-Halo Collection 2026."
The runway runs three times that day, about 30 minutes each.
- Part 1: 2–2:30 p.m.
- Part 2: 3–3:30 p.m.
- Part 3: 4–4:30 p.m.
Each group walks for about 1 minute. Each group that walks gets one instant "Cheki" photo taken on the spot.
There is also a costume makeup booth (face and body painting), with help from beauty school students. According to Town News, it is open from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free if you register for Ginryugai's official LINE account or similar.
How to walk the runway
At first, runway tickets were offered as rewards in a crowdfunding campaign (a way to collect support online). According to the organizers, a ticket covered up to 3 people per group for ¥3,000. The campaign closed on Oct 4, 2026, raising ¥284,750 from 38 supporters.
After that, Town News (Oct 15) reported that walkers are being recruited in groups of about 1 to 5 people for ¥1,000 per group. Seated viewing is also reported at ¥1,000 per person.
However, neither the article nor the organizers' pages say how to apply for the current recruitment or when it closes. If you want to walk, ask the Kawasaki Ginryugai Shopping Street Cooperative early (phone/fax 044-233-1666). According to the organizers, watching while standing is free.
Planned by four Hosei University students
Four second-year students from Hosei University's Faculty of Career Design came up with the plan while learning in class how to bring life to local communities. They hold it together with the Kawasaki Ginryugai Shopping Street Cooperative.
Until 2019, a costume Halloween event called "Kawaharo" was held around Kawasaki Station. The organizers say they do not want to simply bring Kawaharo back, but to create a new Halloween that only their generation can make.
