Opening night: stalls beyond a pink neon gate

On the evening of Friday, October 23, 2026, we went to Kawasaki Yoichi at the East Exit of JR Kawasaki Station. For its fifth year, the Kawasaki Soul Food Stalls, where well-known local restaurants set up stalls, run for three days for the first time, and this was day one. (Event details: our preview article.)

A pink neon gate marks the entrance to Kawasaki Fes Square, in front of Kawasaki Le Front. Beyond it, rows of red-and-white tents were busy with people on their way home from work.

Lines at popular stalls; Haidilao's malatang is ¥499

Popular stalls had lines. Our team was short on time because of other plans and did not get to try much of the food.

The Haidilao Hot Pot Kawasaki stall serves malatang (¥499).

On Cinecitta Street in La Cittadella, stalls such as Matsuya Sohonten and Kagiya Brewery lined the street, and people gathered around standing tables.

Meeting Takupon and Ayaka Nasuno

We met up with Takupon (@kawasaki_gurme), who shares Kawasaki food on Instagram, and Ayaka Nasuno (@ayanasuno), a Kawasaki City Council member elected from Saiwai Ward. It was a short visit, but a fun night.
